5 TIPS FOR YOUR FANTASY LEAGUE

We are rapidly approaching a new fantasy football season so now is the time to get your league positioned for your best year yet. Here are 5 quick tips that will help you achieve a more competitive and engaged fantasy league!

5: Lose the kicker position. Hats off to both DraftKings and FanDuel for getting rid of this position, and we suggest you do this for your redraft or dynasty league as well. Let's not kid ourselves, it’s simply a crapshoot when it comes to the kicker position. Sure players like Harrison Butker or Justin Tucker can put up big numbers from time to time, but the consistency of kicker scoring makes the position nearly impossible to predict.

It's time the kicker position gets the boot from your fantasy football starting lineup.

4. Upgrade to a championship trophy, champion ring, or champion belt. Sure, everybody wants to win some cash when they are competing in their fantasy league, but a trophy, ring, or belt will provide year-round engagement for your league. Cash is often spent, saved, or forgotten about. A championship belt or trophy will not be forgotten. Fantasy football championship belts first hit the market a few years ago, and have continued to increase in popularity. The price point has come down a bit, and a great belt can be found for around $100.

Celebrate your fantasy football champion. Reward him/her with an epic trophy, ring or champion belt.

3. Give up drafting on a computer. If you're reading this article, chances are, you've watched the television show called The League. If you've indeed seen The League, then you know how much fun drafting a fantasy team can be when you use a live draft board and player stickers, instead of a computer. Head over to 360 Fantasy Football Draft Boards and check out their Build-A-Board, Fully Custom Fantasy Football Draft Board. You'll be able to add a custom background image, pick the number of rounds and teams, and enter a title to go on the top. For a less custom option, check out this fantasy draft board on Amazon. Either way, you can't go wrong with a physical draft board.

The fantasy draft is, arguably, the most exciting time of the fantasy season, so make it count!

2. Adopt keepers. Adding keepers is something that every Commish should consider. Having keepers will add a fun wrinkle into both the draft strategy as well as the ongoing player management strategy. Each year every manager can keep one or more people they drafted, in the same round they were originally drafted. Leagues that adopt keepers often see more rookies get drafted, as the upside and potential long-term value is much higher than an old vet. Set the keeper rules before getting started to ensure everybody understands exactly how they will work.

Keepers will help keep your fantasy league innovating.

1. Consider changing your league hosting site. The majority of fantasy football fans still use ESPN or Yahoo as their platform of choice. That said, Sleeper, MFL (My Fantasy League), or Flea Flicker are platforms that you may want to consider. These newer platforms have been created for greater flexibility when it comes to utilizing more creative league settings, especially for Dynasty fantasy football leagues. Several of these sites allow for more customization for the league commissioner and encourage group chats, have interactive player news feeds, provide a positive experience for their users. All of these sites have their own unique feature and advantages so find the site the best fits your league.
